Dale Hoffman-Floerke, Deputy Director
Transferring to Sacramento in 1991 as an Environmental Scientist and later a Recreation and Wildlife Resources Advisor, Dale worked on, or managed a number of programs including the California Water Plan, Oroville Recreation Plan, environmental compliance, and Oroville FERC Relicensing. In May of 2005, Dale was appointed to the position of DWR's Chief of the Colorado River and Salton Sea office. Under her direction, and in coordination with the DFG, a Programmatic EIR for the Salton Sea Ecosystem Restoration Program was completed in 2007. In 2008, Dale was asked to provide environmental oversight and direction to the Department's FloodSAFE program and the Delta Suisun Marsh Office. Recognizing the need to ensure an environmental stewardship approach for all DWR programs, Dale helped create the Department's newest Office, the FloodSAFE Environmental Stewardship and Statewide Resources Office. In July of 2009, Dale was appointed Chief of the Division of Environmental Services at DWR, overseeing a staff of over 150 with a budget of $60M, directing a wide variety of programs and activities including providing policy on environmental issues to DWR management. Dale was appointed Deputy Director for Integrated Water Management in DWR in March 2010. In her newest position, Dale directs Department activities of the Divisions of Safety of Dams, Flood Management, Statewide Integrated Water Management, and Integrated Regional Water Management, as well as water conservation and climate change programs.
