Proposition 84 provides funding for many activities including flood control. Proposition 84, Chapter 3, 75032.5 provides $40 million to continue the Flood Protection Corridor Program. During the fiscal year 2007-2008 there will be $24 million of this funding available for project grants.

Solicitation Procedure and Background

Overview of 2007-2008 Flood Protection Corridor Program Applications

Applications were reviewed and scored by a Project Evaluation Team. After application review and scoring, projects were prioritized and a recommendation as to the amount of funding per project was established by the Management Review Team of the Division of Flood Management. These recommendations were then approved by the Director of DWR on May 12, 2008.

The priority list and funding status are as follows:

  • “A” List: These are preferred priority projects. These projects will be given the whole, or part of, the amount of funding requested in the 2007-2008 funding cycle.
  • “B” List: These are reserve priority projects. These projects will not be funded during the 2007-2008 funding cycle.
  • Projects with Funding Gaps: These are projects that are not presently fundable from the FPCP because of cost-sharing funding gaps. Applicants may reapply for future funding cycles when sufficient funding to ensure project completion becomes available from other sources.
  • Projects that Need to Show More Benefits: These are projects that scored low in project review due to scarcity of benefits. Applicants may reapply for future funding cycles if additional benefits can be demonstrated.
