Every year, the Department of Water Resources issues technical bulletins, reports, and other publications and media documenting the measurement, protection, use, and management of California's water resources. This DWR Publications Repository is a partial and growing list of the publications and other media produced and distributed by the Department.

In this list you find a variety of types of publications and other media ranging from print material, to audio and video files. If the publication or other media is available in electronic format, a link will point to the appropriate electronic file. In many cases, publications are only available in hardcopy and cannot be downloaded. A contact phone number and email will be provided for cases where an electronic download is not available.

Description: a 16" diameter, 720' deep test production well was drilled to assess the effects of pumping deep groundwater at a rate of 3100 gpm for a period of 33 days in the vicinity of Mil 13 of the GCID Main Canal. Five onsite observation wells were monitored for water level fluctuations during the long term aquifer test.

Description: The history, features, and operation of the California Aqueduct are described. The main stem of the California Aqueduct consists of 385 miles of concrete-lined open canal and 59 miles of tunnels, siphons, and pipelines. It transports up to 3 million acre feet of water each year to SWP urban and agricultural users. It also includes information about biking along the California Aqueduct.

Description: This pilot study was performed as a collaborative effort between the Central Valley Regional Water Quality Control Board (CVRWQCB), the UC Davis Aquatic Toxicity Laboratory (UCD-ATL), and the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant (SRWTP) to assess the potential toxicity of ammonia and treated wastewater effluent from the Sacramento Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant to larval delta smelt.

Description: The project site is located near the town of La Grange on the Tuolumne River. The lower portions of the Tuolumne River have been deprived of coarse sediment. Since the construction of La Grange Dam in 1893, coarse sediment supply from the upper Tuolumne River watershed is no longer supplied to the lower reaches of the river. This causes bed degradation, bed coarsening, and loss of alluvial deposits which negatively impacts salmon production by reducing quantity and quality of spawning and rearing habitat. The purpose of this project is to augment the coarse sediment supply to the lower Tuolumne River with clean, graded gravel that is intended to mimic the natural process of coarse sediment supply transport.
