There are always exciting, fun, and educational events around the Lake Oroville area, just waiting for you to enjoy. Here are just some of them.

2012

Event: 9th Annual Lake Oroville C.A.S.T. for Kids Fishing Eventl

Date: Saturday, June 23, 2012

Time: 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Description: The Catch A Special Thrill for kids Foundation, and the Department of Water Resources (DWR), Department of Parks and Recreation (State Parks), Department of Forestry and Fire Prevention (CalFire), the Department of Fish and Game (DFG), and the Department of Boating and Waterways (DBW), along with strong support from the local community, get together for this annual Lake Oroville fishing event, to take disabled and under-privileged children on a once-in-a lifetime fishing trip. Whether the child is successful at catching fish or not, each child receives a plaque with a picture of him/her standing with their sponsoring boat captain.

Fee: Free, but child must meet qualifications and enroll prior to event.

In addition, there will be "Hooked on Fishing" and "Jack Splash" events coming next spring, but the dates of these events have not been scheduled as of yet. You can also get additional information from the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce.

Event: 17th Annual Oroville Salmon Festival

Date: Fall 2012 - To be announced

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Location: Feather River Fish Hatchery and Historic Downtown Oroville

Description: A weekend to celebrate the return of thousands of spawning salmon that make the trek from the ocean to the Feather River to spawn. Historic Downtown Oroville comes alive with a pancake breakfast, certified farmer's market, life music, craft fair, a Maidu Salmon Ceremony with live dancing by local Native Americans, and this year there will be a Salmon Court with recipes featuring…Salmon.

Event: Harvest Fest

Date: To be announced

Time: 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Location: Lake Oroville Visitors Center, 917 Kelly Ridge Road, Oroville

Description: The "Harvest Fest" has face painting, a cake walk, costume parade, great food, bean bag toss, gold panning, a howling contest, gift basket drawing, and much much more.
